CMHC Eco Plus

Previously known as the Green Home program, CMHC's Eco Plus offers a 25% premium refund for purchasing or constructing a green home.

Both new and existing homes can qualify.

What counts as a green home?​​​
​​
To qualify as green, your home must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Meets Step Code 3, 4 or 5

Has another eligible certificate​​​​

GHG emissions are within the bottom 15%
-
Requires an Energuide evaluation​​

Energy use at least 20% lower than “A Typical New House”

CMHC Eco Improvement

CMHC's Eco Improvement program offers a 25% premium refund for purchasing an existing home with intent to complete $20,000 of green renovations

What counts as a green renovation?​​​
​​​
Your renovation must include at least $20,000 of work across three categories:
- Building envelope (insulation, windows, doors, roof, attic, air tightness and foundation)

Mechanical systems (HVAC - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, heat pump systems)​​

Renewable energy systems (solar, wind, geothermal)​​
​
Renovations are also eligible for up to $40,000 of interest-free financing through the Canada Greener Homes Loan

Greener Homes Loan
Interest-free loans of up to $40,000 are available from the Government of Canada to help homeowners pay for the cost of renovations.
The Canada Greener Homes Loan works alongside the existing provincial rebate programs.

With a 10 year, interest-free repayment term, homeowners may opt in to the loan when pursuing retrofits like insulation, heat pumps, solar panels, and more.
​
Energy advisors play a key part in the delivery of the loan.
Booking an energy evaluation is a requirement to qualify for the loan.
